YuGiOh! Vol 1 Kazuki Takahashi Books
I really enjoyed this. As others have said it's a bit darker than the anime, but not too dark. It uses the Japanese names. I liked seeing more detail of the origins of the pharaoh. Most of these stories take place in Yugi's high school and have little to do with "children's card games." I imagine later volumes have more card playing, though there is some. The focus is rather on "games" and how the pharaoh loves games and... poetic justice? Again, it's a little dark, but not that dark. Also, for any people out there like me who weren't sure about the format when they bought it, it reads like manga, back to front, right to left. I realize that some people will read this comment and think it's obvious, but I didn't know how Americanized this would be. I don't buy a lot of manga.

YuGiOh! Vol 1 Kazuki Takahashi Books Reviews
I ordered this for my big brother's birthday. We love Yu-Gi-Oh the manga, card game, and anime. However I only saw some of it and would only highly recommend this for teens or adults. Some parts may seem a little violent for kids. It's much different from the anime which is very kid appropriate. I ordered the hardcover and it is perfect and excellent quality pages. Highly recommend for older Yu-Gi-Oh fans. ) Awesome seller.
I'm a fan of the TV show, so I was expecting it to be like that, but it's actually very different. I don't know if it's only because it's the first volume, but duel monsters isn't even mentioned. It was still a fun story. I recommend it for those that want a little more in depth of who Yugi and his friends really are.
I just wanted to say that this book is great! I don't know if other people just had bad luck, but mine arrived in excellent condition! Also, sure the pages are thinner than an average book, but not that much thinner. It still holds together, so unless you are a rough with your book, then it won't tear that easily. This is an excellent book. Highly recommend!
Really great manga, came in good condition, and comes with a neat card for D/D/D decks.
Awesome to see where it all started. This manga is nothing like the anime! Far from it! In fact, that's a GOOD thing! It's dark, comical, and entertaining. The characters are much more interesting and enjoyable, and the art is fun too look at. Yu Gi oh the anime is great and all but no one can deny how goofy and corny it is. Yeah it's a kids show, but so what it was still good in its own ways. It had potential for better characters, well, this manga is the Jesus Christ of that answer. This goes more in depth, if you think you like Yu Gi Oh, wait til you read this, you'll love it even more!
So if you have never watched the yugioh anime before, READ THE MANGA FIRST so you get a grasp for the characters. in the anime U feel as though you don't get a truly good hold on any of the characters feelings or personality. No shade on it though I love the anime it just don't hold true to the characters all the time.
If you grew up watching the TV show and want an awesome backstory for a little more mature of an audience this book has been great so far. The shadow games are a lot of fun. I made a graph paper game of Shari's game of death.
