Bewitching Kendra Chronicles Alex Flinn Books

I really enjoyed this story. The author has done a retelling of real life stories and some fairy tales and told them from Kendra's point of view. While there were some retelling of old fairy tales and new twists on some old stories (like the sinking of the Titanic and the Great Plague of 1665), the main story was about Emma and her problem with her new step-sister.

At first Emma believes her step-sister is really nice and starts trying to make the best of their situation. It soon becomes evident that there is more to the step-sister than Emma thought. The more she finds, the more she realizes that her step-sister really is evil.

Kendra, who has been enrolled in high school about 100 different times, decides to befriend Emma. Kendra's only problem is trying to decide if she should try to help Emma magically. See Kendra's magic doesn't always work out the way it is meant to. So Emma might end up in worse shape than when she started.

I would recommend this story to anyone that enjoys a good twisted fairytale. Although this is the second in the Kendra Chronicles series, this is the first book in the series that I read. The book is a whole story all to itself, so I did not feel like I missed anything by not having read the first.

Bewitching Kendra Chronicles Alex Flinn Books Reviews

I really hated Kendra when I read Beastly but after reading her backstory and how she helped others, I really like her now!
It was a gift for my daughter and she loves this book. It's more for young adults/ teenagers.
I enjoy stories that make allusions to other works. Maybe that's one reason I liked Bewitching so much. Every so often, here comes another twist on an old tale! Good fun, and I like Flinn's writing style. I'll read more of The Kendra Chronicles.
Great
This story is okay, but I just didn't feel like it measured up to Beastly, or a Kiss in Time, or Cloaked. It was just quite a bit darker, and it told some of the more depressing fairy tales, the ones that don't end as happily as some of the others. But, still, it was all right, and the main story was actually pretty good.
I have enjoyed all the Kendra Chronicles and finding out more bout Kendra and her past made this an fun read.
Bewitching wasn't quite what I expected, but I was not disappointed. I had thought there would be more to Kendra's story and although there was at the beginning, the majority of the story follows two stepsisters, Emma and Lisette in a new and unique take on Cinderella.

Emma and Lisette's story is broken into three parts divided by new twists on the Princess and the Pea and The Little Mermaid. The POV jumps from Kendra to the main character of each story she shares and although the format is different from most books I read, the transitions were smooth and easy to follow.

If you enjoyed Beastly, A Kiss In Time, or fairytales in general, you should read this book. This is by far my favorite Alex Finn book and I look forward to reading future installments of the Kendra series.
